Meet The Team
After receiving my Baking & Pastry Arts degree in 2001 with honors, I was able to venture out into the real world. The possibilities were endless and I started to make my way through the hospitality adventures!
I started out at a family owned Italian bakery where I learned the "real world" fundamentals. My passion to learn took over and I moved on to a large hotel with restaurants of different themes and culinary approaches, giving me first hand experience in a higher volume atmosphere where plating and all of its relative elements were essential in creating the ultimate dessert.
Moving up quickly to management after holding these positions put me in a great position to showcase my own creativity and was able to grow as a Pastry Chef in my own right.
Being an Executive Pastry Chef has launched me into a place of wanting to share everything I have learned throughout the years.
Being from a large, Italian family, food has always been the center of any celebration and all I knew is that I wanted to keep that feeling alive! Your Sweet Escape is just that! Where we are able to share our love of baking and pastry with all of you!
When it came time to choose my career, culinary school was an easy choice for me. With my focus more on the pastry side, I started working at an Italian bakery, along with school, to gain more of the hands on experience.
After graduating in 2012, I accepted my first job as a Pastry Cook at a historical hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is where I really fell in love with pastry!
With more experience and more confidence under my belt, I stepped into an Assistant Pastry Chef position which quickly launched me into my current Head Pastry Chef position at an upscale steakhouse in Fort Lauderdale.
I enrolled into the pastry arts program at Jonson & Wales University in Rhode Island. After graduating, I started working at a cupcake bakery. This is where I really started to develop a love and appreciation for baking.
Wanting to venture out into the big world, I made the move to South Florida. I accepted a pastry cook position at the Riverside Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, working alongside Chef Sabrina Courtemanche. Chef Sabrina really pushed me to do everything she knew I could and was a great mentor.
When it was time to follow my heart back home to Michigan, I began working at Public House Food & Drink in Monroe, Michigan as their Pastry Chef.
I have found my passion in life. Enjoying a finished product that you have poured your heart and soul into can make anyone happy! Sharing my love for the kitchen is not only to bring my passion out more, but to bring out the passion in others!

With a passion for baking as well as cooking, I began my formal education in West Dover, Vermont. I studied under cookbook author, Libby Hillman at the Libby Hillman School of Cooking.
Growing up in the restaurant business, I returned to R.I to pursue a career in the food industry. My first Pastry Chef position was at Le Bistro in Newport R.I. where I learned from the best, the late Chef John Philcox and Chef Tim Kelly. I have also worked as Head Pastry Chef at the White Horse Tavern, the oldest tavern in America. I opened my own restaurant, Country Cuisine located in Portsmouth R.I. in the 80's which I was well known for my desserts!
My current career as a yacht Chef has given me the opportunity to learn about different foods and cultures across the map. During this time, I have won 1st Place in numerous baking contests, including New England Apple Pie, Best R.I. Chocolate Dessert, New Port Irish Bread and Bread Pudding!
With a passion for baking and cooking, I am thrilled to be a part of the Sweet Escape family represting New England.
